La Femme Blushes

Makeup Mania:
I first heard of the La Femme blushes from well know You Tuber Gossmakeupartist.
La Femme cosmetics was originally made exclusively for professionals such as makeup artist, TV, and Theater but I'm glad they are available to the public because these babies are super pigmented and the cost is AMAZING 2.87$/blush.  I never thought in my wildest dreams that the price could get any lower. So when Makeup Mania had their Thanksgiving Pink Saturday sale I had to pick up a few more of these blushes that I've had my eye on for a while but were always out of stock due to their popularity and to boot they took 1.00$ off each blush.

"If it's good enough for professionals, then it good enough for me".

Coastal Scents Haul

Coastal Scents:

During Coastal Scents Black Friday's 50% off site wide sale, I picked up some Shea butter and a few more brushes.  All were great prices except the shipping in my opinion was very high.  I don't order from them often and really wanted the Shea butter. I'm trying to validate the high shipping in my mind but it still festers there every time I look at the Shea butter... oh well... upward and onward...

Pro Blending Fluff
Fan Brush Black
Classic Blender Pointed Synthetic
Classic Buffer Large Synthetic
Unrefined Shea Butter - 2 X 1lb

MUA an United Kingdom (UK) drugstore brand was celebrating 35,000 likes on Facebook just around the time of the US Thanksgiving and had an offer of 35% off orders of £10+ and free international shipping.

All of the items I purchased ranged from £1.00 - £3.00 not including the 35% off.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Madness (Haul)

I was out of control..lol!
aahh! But now I'm done with makeup hauls for awhile.

As most already know we don't have Black Friday here in Canada but lately most of our merchants have been jumping on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday USA band wagon, which has been great for my fellow Canucks.

That been said, I joined the United States this Thanksgiving and did a little purchasing (online) myself on some deals that I I've had my eye on and just couldMidLife Beautyn't pass over because they were just that sweet of a deal.  Most of the merchants had pretty good shipping to Canada but one or two was a little out there but did that stop me, No way Jose!  Except for one vendor “The Balm Cosmetics” who was also having a 40% off sale on Cyber Monday but I didn't purchase from them cause the international shipping for one item would have been 40$, outrageous you say, I would say so! This is a company with good products but are taking advantage of their international customers.. I don’t like that but I'll leave this ranting for another time.

E.L.F HD Cream Blushes Haul Part2

Top Left: Superstar, Encore
Bottom: Showstopper

These blushes are compared to the Make UP Forever (MUFE)  HD Microfinish Blush found at Sephora and come in a whole range of colors (10, I believe) but at a cost of $30.00 CAD each. for 0.2 oz of product.

As much as I would like to try MUFE there is no way I'm willing to pay that price.. So I found these ELF HD Blushes at a fraction of the price $3.00 each with 0.34 Fl oz. the bottle is small with 0.34 Fl oz with a cute and handy pump dispenser and very pigmented.

I'm sure these blushes, though small in size will last a very long time. I have to say this again. these blushes are so insanely pigmented that you only need a little squirt for both cheeks with these puppies. Some have said these blushes are hard to work with but I haven't encountered that issue. In fact I find them easy to apply with the ELF small stippling brush. The key to using these blushes is a little goes a long way and blend, blend, blend for a nice velvet finish.

I ordered 3 of the 5 colors;

  • Superstar: Is my favorite at the moment. it;s like a coral color and I think flattering to my skin tone.. That being said, I also feel this blush will also look great on any skin tone.
  • Showstopper: A lovely color for fall in a deep pinky purple color a perfect color for deeper skin tones.
  • Encore: A very nice color of deep plum this color again will look great on deeper skin tones although any skin tone could use this color but lighter skins tones should have a very light hand when using.

The other 2 colors that I did not pick up (but have seen swatches) are;

  • Headliner: A warmer Pink - would look awesome on lighter skin tones.
  • Diva: This is more of a Hot Pink and would look great on all skin tones.

From Left to Right:  Superstar, Diva, Encore
Swatches: not blended
Have you tried the ELF HD blushes yet? What is your favorite color?

E.L.F Brushes Haul

For some time now, I've been on the hunt for some new  makeup brushes and obsessed with finding them at a good price .  After reviewing many You Tube and blogs about how amazing and cheaply priced the ELF brushes were I decided to invest in some myself to see what all the hype was about.

I purchased several brushes from the studio Line. The regular price is $3.00/brush.  Yes, you read right $3.00/brush. Even better than that E.L.F who is always having promotions was having a 50% off promotion on their studio line, Yup that would be $1.50/brush, so I thought what a perfect time to stock up and invest in some new brushes;

So if you're looking for some decent brushes without breaking the bank stay tune for a more detailed review on description and how I like to use these brushes. I've also linked each of the brushes on the E.l.f's website.

Powder Brush

E.L.F Powder Brush

Vegan Friendly, anti-bacterial, synthetic haired taklon brush.  Softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products.  Source ELF

My Use
I already owned this brush and have had it for several years… It was starting to get a little messed up so I purchased another one. This brush if you review YouTube is probably one of the most used brush out there and I have to say it is worthy of all its hype.

I use this brush to apply my liquid, cream and/or powder foundations. It gives me a smooth flawless and natural finish each time.

Small Stipple Brush

Use the Small Stipple Brush to create soft layers by adding texture for a natural airbrushed result. The two layers of bristles create ultimate control from sheer to heavy coverage for small and hard to reach places. Ideal with liquid, cream or powder products, foundation, concealer, and cream blush.   Source Elf

My Use
I am really lovin' this brush.. It's soft but also dense and its small size is great for applying the ELF HD cream blushes,  it distributes product nicely when stippling to the cheeks and I'm able to blend into the cheeks showing the true vibrancy of the blush.

Complexion Brush

E.L.F Complexion Brush
This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush! Creates an even and natural finish: Expertly sweeps all types of powders across the entire face and sculpts features beautifully.  Use with pressed, loose, or translucent powders, blush or bronzer.    Source ELF

My Use
I pretty much use this brush every day, the brush bristles are so soft and I like to use it to apply with translucent powders all over the face. Between the brush and powder it applies very lightly and sheer minimizing those fine face lines. Sometimes if I am not using this brush for an all over sweep, I will then use it to dust away excess powder.

Mineral Powder Brush

The rounded-dome tip and densely packed bristles offer exact product placement and complements the circular movements needed to apply mineral powders. Perfect for providing full coverage and reaching the hard to reach crevices of the face. Use for applying both loose and compact mineral powders or any other pressed or loose powder, foundation, bronzer or blush.   Source ELF

My Use
Great brush, soft, like the complexion brush but  half the size and much denser. I use this brush for translucent and mineral powders for a more precise application. I can always get the necessary cover that I am looking for when using this brush.

My Use
This is another soft bristle brush but it's not my favorite or go to brush.  However, when I do reach for it it's usually when I am applying blush, bronzers or highlighter.

Small Tapered Brush

The tapered head of the Small Tapered Brush makes application easy for reaching small crevices for a flawless finish. This precision brush is perfect for contouring and creating even coverage. Use with powder to set under the eye, on the hollows of the cheek to contour with bronzer, or use with foundation to achieve a light finish.   Source ELF

Create an airbrush effect with the Flawless Concealer Brush using any liquid or powder concealer. The unique rounded shape allows you to contour and cover areas easily. Create buildable coverage from light to heavy for a customizable look that is smooth and flawless.  Source ELF

My Use
Here's another brush that I think is awesome.  Who said you can't get good brushes for cheap.  I use  this brush when using translucent powder to set under my eyes. It's small and fits perfectly under the eye where most of my fine lines reside and it helps set my concealer.

That's it folks until next time - Toodles for now!
